Cal: 10 Months

How is it possible that 10 months have already come and gone? The fact that we are already closing in on our first full week of May, just blows my mind. I mean, the big kids will be home for summer in less than a month! I mean ! A year ago today, I was huge and miserable, and happy, and hot. We were nearing the countdown to meeting our new baby, like we are now nearing the countdown to your first birthday. Again, I say "!"

Your 9 month well check went as expected - you were deemed perfectly perfect and perfectly long and perfectly plump. 90th percentiles for both height and weight, and a solid 60th percentile for head circumference. It's amazing how much changes in 3 months, because your doctor asked if you were still on your reflux meds and I was like "that was so... three months ago". It seems like longer than that. I mean, at 6 months we were discussing hoping that you would be able to get off the meds at some point, and now, a mere 3 months later, the meds seem like ancient history.

What else happened this month? You experienced your first horse ride. Which went from bad:

to worse:

Your mobility continues to grow - your crawling is speedier - your standing more frequent.

You continue to be a ray of sunshine. Your nanny talks about how everyone stops to greet you when you two go on your daily walks, because it is nearly impossible to walk past you without stopping to acknowledge that giant toothy grin.

Speaking of toothiness... Oh sweet baby. Remember when you started sleeping through the night? Ha! I don't! I am genuinely concerned I just hallucinated it during the height of my sleeplessness. But, supposedly you did, and then a few weeks later, you did not! But who can really blame you, as over the last month you have literally had ALL THE TEETH trying to cram through your gums all at the same time!

Right now you can really see the bottom middle two, practically at full height, and one tooth to the right of them that is about 3/4 of the way up. On top, the middle two have been threatening an appearance for what seems like forever, but as they drag their heels, the ones on either side, have broken through, and you are quite the impressive little vampire.

Oh - you learned a new trick!

For about 48 hours you thought taking one arm out of your clothes was HILARIOUS.

Speaking of clothes... See those zippy jammies you have on in the picture above? Those are size 12 months. You have been filling them out quite nicely for the past few months. So nicely, in fact, that last night, as I attempted to encase your chunky little body in bedtime attire, I couldn't help but think of the image of girls laying down, sucking in, and struggling the zippers of their jeans up. I had to pull the fabric together in order to safely zip you up, otherwise I was at high risk of zipping up a right thigh.

Generally we try to stick to two piece sets now. That, or the 18 month jammies that are now getting added to the rotation.

You can clap, you can kiss, you can imitate most sounds.

You like a pacifier during the day, but have no use for such things are night.

You love to feed yourself, but manage to only get about 10% of the food on your tray in your mouth.

We still have to take turns getting you up from your naps (because you are THAT happy).

You are a delight. And I love you.
