Before we can get to the summer, we have to finish off the school year! So, in short order...
We start with just a collection of random Cal pictures. He is by far the most photographed child in our family at the moment (courtesy, in part, of Ms. Cathy who fills his days with fun and send us little moments when we are at work, and also courtesy of our Bigs finding photographs way less cool now).
But fear not, the Bigs were around, too. And even allowed us to capture some of those moments as well:
Daphne continues to amaze us with her ability to do the splits! (But refuses to stand for a picture, even during an award ceremony!)
Cooper did a service project - making treats for the local firehouse - and completed another year of Read-Deed-Run.
We are super proud of him for sticking with this club and completing the 26 miles, 26 hours of community service and 2600 pages of reading. He will likely be the only kid at his school to do so for all 3 years he is eligible to participate.
His artwork was also selected for presentation at the district.
We love this kid.
In fact, we were so proud of all three of our kids 3rd grading period, we treated them to some celebratory Legos:
Now for some other special events we crammed into April...
Leading up to Easter weekend, we got out Easter egg dye on:
Then we set off for Sea World on Good Friday - thinking we were brilliant as not everyone has the day off, assuming it was bound to be better than going on a weekend.
Look how excited we were!!!
Then, not even 20 miles from home, all of the highway was shut down due to a wreck with HazMat issues. Our kids got to experience playing in the street as we parked in what had once been a highway and was suddenly a parking lot and played Mother May I on the side of the road.
Several hours later, I tapped out and tagged Steve in to child entertainment.
Sea World was HOT.
We managed the epic show with the Killer Whales, which was pretty fantastic.
We did some walking around, checking out animals, and the Bigs and Steve went on a pretty cool water ride while Cal and I ate popcorn.
But it wasn't long before we just wanted to cool down, and despite spending more time in the car than at the actual park, we were ready to head on home.
I am glad we went, but in no hurry to go back.
Then, before you know it, we were celebrating Easter.
Other big events from this month - MOVIES!
Thanks to a VERY thoughtful wife, Steve (and Coop) got to go to see Avengers End Game the night before it officially opened. It was a special treat on a school night, but so memorable (and such a great movie!)
Though, I got to be honest, our at home screening of the first Harry Potter movie (Daph and I just finished book 1, and Cooper is a big enough fan to re-watch the movies with us) was equally epic in my book.
