Summer 2019 Wrap Up

Well, in my defense, it still VERY much feels like Summer here in Houston.

And, as for Summer 2019, what can I say???  WE DID IT ALL!

Tracking the To Do List...

1) We made 10 things on the grill... (1) hot dogs on June 2; (2) fajitas on June 7; (3) shrimp on June 9; (4) burgers on June 16; (5) steak on June 30; (6) steak and hot dogs on July 5; (7) beef tips and veggies on July 16; (8) hot dogs on July 17; (9) pizza on July 26; (10) chicken on July 26

2) We went on at least 5 bike rides.... June 1, June 2, June 18, July 16, July 23 (with roller skating bonus)

3) We went horseback riding - July 5 (in Fort Worth, when visiting Mamaw and Grandpa, and Cooper was able to bring his horse to a trot in an open field)

4) We saw the live action Aladdin on June 8

5) We saw the live action Lion King on July 26

6)  We saw Toy Story 4 on June 27

7)  We went to the swimming pool at least 5 times (and thankfully did this early in the summer, as a plane crashed into our neighborhood pool part way through...) June 2, June 8, June 16, June 21, July 4-8 (at Mamaw and Grandpa's house), July 11, July 12

8)  We had an EPIC lemonade stand on July 16 - complete with comic strips for sale - definitely a hit

9)  We made an EPIC birthday cake for Cal on July 5-6 - complete with fondant roads and construction vehicles

10) We went on a road trip... To Sundown for Aunt Krishia the Great's retirement party (May 22-24) and to Fort Worth for a long weekend with indoor waterpark at the end (July 4-9).  Also, OMG, I got SUPER sick on that drive home from Sundown... I will forever remember crying in the driver's seat and stopping to dry heave in an Exxon parking lot....

11) We went on a walk to get ice cream 3 times... though on the first trip (June 22) we learned the ice cream place up the street had closed, so got cookies instead.  The next two trips (July 13, August 10), we did get ice cream because we walked to the gas station and got Dibbs... we are flexible like that!

12)  We had a family game of tag football on June 15..... in the rain in the church parking lot while Cal scooted in and out on his bike.  This was the MOST fun.  Mom and Daph vs Dad and Coop.  Each team one a game, but the girls took it home with a win in the tie breaker.

13)  We had a family basketball game on July 13.  We played several games and switched up the teams... I believe I came out on the losing side every time.  :(

14)  We made pickles on June 23.  They were SO good.

15)  We had a water war on July 13 and the parents DEFINITELY won that!

16)  We played at the park at least 5 times - always going early enough to avoid the hottest part of the day.  May 25, June 2,  June 4, June 16, June 18, July 10... and then we stopped writing it down....

17)  We made vanilla bean ice cream on June 2 (and made many other homemade ice creams throughout the summer....)

18)  We went to Willy Burger 3 times, feeling slightly too full after each visit, because it is THAT good (June 8, July 11, July 27).  It is the one place all kids agree on.

19)  We planted green beans on August 10, and all three kids have sprouted plants... I think we are a few weeks away from seeing bean pods, but I have hope that we can keep them alive!!!

20)  We made homemade doughnuts on June 9.  After the first batch, I remembered that you have to use smaller biscuits to avoid burnt outsides and/or gooey insides.

I have pictures of most if not all of the above, and I have hopes that one day I will go back and include them, but for now, I am glad to have this documented so that I can report on some other post-summer big events!
